DOMAIN WAR TIMES
Domaining it`s getting tough these days. Many people got scammed by some……I don`t even know how to call them. I can`t find enough bad words for the scammers.
What do we do? Do we keep crying? Useless.
Do we keep asking for help to PayPal ? Even more useless.
PayPal is the number 1 reason for why scammers are increasing in numbers. They know that PayPal will protect buyers over “non tangible items” such domains. So for 99.9 % of chargebacks , PayPal will protect the buyers regardless of who has the domains.
Solutions? Yes but it may take some time, I`m already working on one.
In the mean time, I invite you personally to join me in the best alternative to PayPal:
Just click on this link and sign up for a free safe account like I just did:
https://www.moneybookers.com/app/?rid=4854387
Their customer support seems to be much better and they also have a cheap Escrow service which may be handy. You still have to use your best judgement when dealing with new people and keep in mind that some of the scammers are also taking control of reputable user`s profile on several domainers forum and their PayPal account so you never know , just check more, and do not rush, scammers like it fast , instead it may be worth the time to delay a few days a transaction till everything seems ok.
Till my project gets done , my best advice for you are:
1) if you are selling or buying expensive domains , just use the Moniker Escrow , the safest one (Escrow.com is not 100 % safe for buyers while it is for sellers)
2) if you are selling low priced domains, use Moneybookers as already advised
3) if you are selling on TDNAM , scammers may send you an email asking to push a domain : DO NOT until TDNAM says so and never reply to an e-mail but YOU MUST contact the buyer following TDNAM instructions
4) avoid to deal with new members unless they pay you via bank wire, I asked this to a new member and he did it, it tooks longer but he understood, explain politely why you ask for that and if buyers is genuine , he/she won`t refuse.
5) change all your password at least once a month
6) learn what “phishing” is and how to don`t fall for it, search on Google or ask on the forums.
7) CLOSE PAYPAL ACCOUNTS…….more and more domainers will quit using it.
8 ) spread the word about this page and send an e-mail with it to all your friends so the more people will know this problem , the harder will be for scammer to win
9) Consider selling less domains till things get a bit better and we track these scammers reporting them to the authorities.
10) Never trust someone just because they have a high eBay feedback, those numbers are very easy to get for scammers with little effort. (for example they can buy 100 items at 1 cent each……so with $1 they`d get 100 Positive feedbacks = system bypassed).
