Hi guys, I`m running a special sale and all offers will be considered for the following names. There will be also other domains that will be added soon. I`m looking to SELL them and not just posting them for showcase so you are really invited to post your offers, bulk offers as well. Just please don`t send me offers too low…..be fair, I`m willing to sell at cheap prices but not at half of the market prices.

Some domains are priced, some are not. If they are not, then you may submit an offer otherwise the price is that. Most of the prized ones have been already lowered A LOT and are really priced to sell. Hard to find better deals then these in the aftermarket. TO submit an offer or purchase the domains, you have the following options:

1) contact me by finding my email (it should be hard for domainers since it`s everywhere in these domains and in the ItalianDragon.com whois details as well.

2) by posting comment to this Blogpost. If you have posted some comments in the past and it has been approved and it`s visible, then your comment will be displayed immediately, otherwise I`ll have to approve it manually so you won`t be able to see it until I approve it. (this is necessaru to fight spam).

StatiUniti.tv (USA.tv)

Italian Overture: 10837 Stati Uniti

It is the most correct term that italians use to call the USA, it translates in “United States” and it is much more used than the full version of the name Stati Uniti d`America ( United States of America) which has Overture of 1,437 and I did not reg it because this one is the most appropriate term used by Italians.

Note: Italians refer to the UK much more with the term “Inghilterra” which is the proper translation of “England”, rather than “Regno Unito” (United Kingdom) . Despite it is incorrect, that`s what most italians do. The Overture for “Regno Unito” is 4093 but I can guarantee that most of the times, when speaking , people do use Inghilterra rather than Regno Unito.

Less sales are reported from all venues.

Is the the Domain industry in crisis?

I would say: maybe.

The truth is the the whole World economy is on the edge of a big serious collapse.

Oil prices, credit crunch and inflation are creating the conditions for a scenario that I have never seen in my whole life.

So people are spending less and less for things that such domains are not really a priority in life.

But we always need to consider that domainers are just a very small community compared to the whole world population and even compared to the amount of investors that prefer traditional investments.

As ex-financial advisor, with the oil hitting a new high at about $142 and the Dow Jones falling at new minimuns I would strongly advice to invest only what you can lose and be prepared to wait longer than usual to see big returns on your investments.

There are some good opportunities for sure in the long term (2 - 5 years) and who has the patience and the bravery to go after them, may still be well rewarded in the future. Pick your cheerries and store them in the cupboard. After the storm, soon or later the sun will come back again, it`s a cycle.

I`m breathless just to see this name, especially considering I could not live without pasta.

Spaghetti, penne , fettuccine , fusilli , linguine, orecchiette , lasagne , ravioli , agnolotti , etc. just to name the main kinds of pasta that Italians know how truly cook spoiling themselfes. Glorious food.

I`m expecting to see a great fight over this wonderful domain and if you can`t afford the .com , you may think to invest in the Indian version of it: PASTA.in is for sale too, just send me an email (it should be easy for you to find my email address by looking at the whois of this Blog or at PASTA.in) and we`ll go from there.

Auction starts on 06/19/2008 at 02:00 PM USA EST and there will be also PIZZA.net in the lot.

The T.R.A.F.F.I.C. East in Orlando, Florida ended with some decent sales but left me thinking about a few things that I`d like to share with you.

On average, during the live auction there were ONLY a total of 75 bidders connected or bidding live over there.

I CAN`T IMAGINE WHAT would happen to the prices if domains where “discovered” from Wall Street for substantial alternative investments.

Imagine having some 10,000 bidders over a LLL.com in 10 years from now?

Someone argued that by now Wall Street traders and investors should know about our industry.

All I can say is that I have been heavily involved in stocktrading from 1999 to 2004 and I can tell you that successful traders don`t have time to go to the toilet, let alone read news about domains. Do you think that a Wall Street trader knows how much money your house is worth? That`s a real estate agent job. But still the connection is there because of big banks involved and also investment funds that own real estate.
Within the domain industry what is missing is that connection. Once that will happen it will trigger to new levels.

Some poor blind naysayers would bark WOF WOF.

Just watch where they`ll have to hide in few years.

In 2010 those domainers will have to start drinking if they did not start yet to forget how blind they have been so far.

By 2015 when reasonably we shoul be around the 50 % of internet penetration Worldwide, they`ll be better turning off the pc totally.

LLL.com prices are doubling each year.

Some people call it bubble.

I may agree. Still nothing stops me from riding the wave, does it?

Real estate has bubbled and now is crashing. Between a few years it will bubble again, it`s a circle.

Stocks have bubbled in the 1999-2000, crashed till 2003 and now bubbling again and will crash again and so on.

Domains prices have still a way too long before to crash because Internet World wide penetration is still very low.

They say a picture is better than 1000 words so have a look at this graph:

The red dot is where we are now in May 2008……21 %.

What do you think will happen to the prices in about 10 years from know?

When it will be around 70% , then it will be time to sell…..and relax because I`ll be able to retire early, like most of LLL.com and LLLL.com LONG TERM holders will.

Another graph (courtesy of ERGO @ NamePros) shows the current trend of dropping LLLL.com :

Despite the drops increased in May (in January happened the same thing compared to the month before) the long term trend is clear: these short .com domains are getting rarer and rarer.

These numbers should consider also of the fact that on average in any day of the year there should be:

456,976 / 365 = 1,251 LLLL to be renewed

If those were left to drop (insane) that would be about 37,530 on a 30 days month.

Instead ,in May we have been on an average of 44 drops a day.

So we are running already ONLY on about 3.54 % dropping names of the total to be renewed.

Note: I know that May is not finished yet, but all the drops for the next few days left in May are known and has been included in the numbers.

Can`t wait to see what happens when we hit less than 10 drops per day (predicted to happen between August and October).

Comments welcome as usual!

I am known for never shutting my mouth even if I have nothing to gain, simply because I hate BS…I hate lies, I simply hate wrong things.

There is a myth going around from years in the industry: Premium letters.

Newbies asked me this many times. What is a Premium letter? And what is a non premium letter.

Some website in the past created this “fable” and lots of sheeps…ehm pardon me “investors” believed that since they believed that some letters were not Premium, they did not buy them so the prices of acronym domains (such as LLL or LLLL) started to decrease.

The habit grew so much that in a catch 22 or paradox, what that site originally wrote , was starting to become true. Like if I wrote that “pigs fly” in 2003 and all people coming later were believing it, then you`ll hear in 2008 that yes pigs fly and by reading this everywhere, a new domainer may start believing pigs REALLY fly.

Years later, in 2008, the fable is still going on.

That`s enough , it`s time to look at REAL DATAS and be smarter than sheeps.

The following study is from 2002 so it`s based BEFORE THE MISTAKEN GUIDE from the 3 chars site came out and it has more value because it was not affected by that, while recent datas are just the mirror of the mistakes domainers have done most of the times following that “guide”.

http://www.mcgees.org/fourletterdomains.html

Survey of Four-Letter Domains

In March 2002 I conducted a survey of four-letter .com domains currently reserved on the Web. There are 456,976 (264) such domains, so I probably annoyed the whois server administrators. Here are some statistics on what I found:

Four-letter domains reserved as of March 2002: 257,400 (56.3%)

Percentage of palindromic domains (adda, zyyz, etc.) reserved: 93.5%

Percentage of domains containing ‘faq’ reserved: 46 out of 52 (88.5%). The ones not yet registered are faqj, faqk, faql, faqo, faqr, and faqv.

I have only found two four-letter words that have not been registered: tahr, a wild mountain goat, and yirr, listed as an echoic in the OED and found in Burns.

Here are some more statistics:

Registration rate for domains beginning with a certain letter:

Most popular:

a: 72.7%
w: 70.4%
t: 68.0%
u: 66.4%
i: 66.3%

Least popular:

v: 37.6%
y: 34.2%
z: 33.6%
x: 32.1%
q: 26.7%

Registration rate for domains containing a certain letter:

Most popular:

a: 72.7%
s: 70.9%
c: 68.3%
i: 67.4%
t: 65.5%

Least popular:

v: 43.7%
y: 41.8%
x: 35.6%
z: 32.9%
q: 22.2%

Registration rate for domains containing a given two-letter pair:

Most popular:

us: 91.4%
in: 90.1%
ma: 90.0%
sa: 89.5%
as: 88.8%

Least popular:

gq: 10.3%
qv: 10.3%
qk: 10.2%
vq: 9.3%
fq: 8.9% (46 of the 50 least popular two-letter pairs contain q. The most popular q-pairs are iq, hq, and aq.)

Also the LETTER FREQUENCY in several languages may help a bit (despite you need to understand that this is not specific only for ACRONYMS:

http://www.everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=914452

So as you can see , according to these statistics the letter U in English is used more than letters like M , C and F and is right in the middle of the list (same in the italian language).
If we analise the stats regarding French and German , then the U is used even more.

How can anyone dispute this and don`t call it Premium ?

Right…first of all, calling letters Premium and not Premium is MISLEADING.

This is what I think we should call them :

MOST USED LETTERS or LESS USED LETTERS.
and my chart based on the actual market (which evolves with the evolving Internet Worldwide penetration)

MOST USED LETTERS:

LEVEL 1: A-B-C-D-E-F-G-I-L-M-N-O-P-R-S-T-W

LEVEL 2: H-U-V

LEVEL 3: J-K-Y

LEVEL 4: Z

LEVEL 5: Q-X

For the records, I ran a survey at NamePros lately over the letter U and this were the results:

http://www.namepros.com/domain-name-discussion/391166-the-letter-u-premium-or-not.html?

Also, it`s about time that some old domainers wake up and realise that English is JUST A PART (BECOMING SMALLER each day) of the Internet. Other languages are used more and more widely.

For example, did you know that the Italian Alphabet has only 21 letters? No J-K-W-X-Y in the land of Ferrari!

While in China, did you know that Chinese does not have the letters A-E-I-O and V ?

And did you know that in Germany the letter Z is very good?

I`m welcomming comments, so have your say!

Founded in March 2008, BQB.com Inc seeks to reduce the pain sellers of domain names currently endure, paying exhorbitant commissions which are in our opinion often unjustified. BQB.com also seeks to create a marketplace for short domain names, which we believe will continue to be one of the strongest appreciating internet investments for many years to come. BQB is founded on Professionalism - each member is individually screened, successful applications are manually approved. Better Quality Business really is just a few keystrokes away!

Join the NO COST revolutionary domain martket by visiting www.BQB.com

MOSCOW : The Soviet Union may be in the dustbin of history, but there’s one place the socialist utopia lives on: cyberspace.

Sixteen years after the superpower’s collapse, Web sites ending in the Soviet “.su” domain name have been rising — registrations increased 45 percent this year alone. Bloggers, entrepreneurs and die-hard communists are all part of a small but growing online community resisting repeated efforts to extinguish the online Soviet outpost.

Russian nostalgia for the Soviet empire is part of the story. Nashi, or “Ours,” is a pro-Kremlin youth group that gained notoriety for raucous protests against Kremlin critics. The group loyally praises President Vladimir Putin at “nashi.su,” though it denies its choice of the “.su” domain was meant to send a political message.

Many Web entrepreneurs also see potential profits in the domain, grabbing instantly recognizable names already claimed in other, better known domains.

A small Moscow car repair shop that specializes in Ford vehicles boasts a home page at “ford.su,” while the owner of “apple.su” is a Muscovite who said he is ready to swap it for a new laptop computer — and not necessarily a Mac from Apple Inc.

Vladimir Khramov, a network administrator from Moscow, said he bought “microsoft.su” last year simply to acquire an easy-to-remember ending for his e-mail address.

While Khramov insists he “did not buy it for reselling,” others are out to make a quick ruble. Yan Balayan registered a number of high-profile addresses, including “ussr.su,” “stalin.su” and “kgb.su” — he’s asking for US$30,000 (€18,900) each, but stands ready to haggle.

With few exceptions — namely, the tech-savvy Baltic state of Estonia — Internet penetration is relatively low in the former Soviet republics. Russia’s Public Opinion Foundation says that only 27 percent of Russian adults use the Internet — and only about 12 percent of the adults on any given day.

Yet many Internet entrepreneurs are passionate about the “.su” domain, even as others are scornful of it as a relic of the past, saying it doesn’t deserve the same status as “.ru” for Russia, “.uk” for the United Kingdom or “.fr” for France.

“They are selling tickets to a drowning ship,” said Anton Nosik, a veteran Web journalist and founder of several successful online projects. “Their message is to losers and latecomers.”

What’s next? Domain names for the Roman Empire or Ancient Greece?

Country-code domains, derived from a list kept by the International Organization for Standardization, typically disappear when a country ceases to exist or changes its name. Both Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia lost their domain names after they broke up into smaller nations. So did Zaire after it became the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The Internet’s key oversight agency, the Marina del Rey, Calif.-based Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, and its predecessors have made several efforts since the 1990s to eliminate the “.su” address.

All have failed.

In late 2006, ICANN even sought advice from the community on how best to revoke outdated suffixes. Yet the resistance continued, and the phase-out seems to be in a stalemate. The domain continues to work normally, but listed in records as “being phased out.”

“There are no technical issues,” said John Crain, ICANN’s chief technical officer. “It all comes down to politics.”

The “.su” domain dates back to September 1990, a little more than a year before the Soviet collapse. Russia was given the “.ru” domain name in 1994. Other former Soviet republics were also assigned codes.

But the owners of “.su” sites stubbornly resisted switching on commercial, political and patriotic grounds. Some even accused the White House of scheming to eliminate the last remnants of its Cold War rival.

As a compromise, the Russian organization responsible for registering new domain names under “.su” agreed to stop issuing new ones, while existing “.su” addresses were allowed to continue for the time being.

A loophole allowed existing “.su” addresses like “lenin.su” to assign subdomains such as “vladimir.lenin.su.” As a result, the online population at “.su” kept growing throughout the 1990s — although not nearly as fast as “.ru.”

Then, in 2001, in response to pressure from users eager for freer access, registration in “.su” was opened to everyone everywhere.

The price was kept artificially high — US$120 (€76) per name, six times the price for “.ru” — to limit the number of new users and prevent entrepreneurs from grabbing names for resale in a practice called cybersquatting, said Andrey Vorobyev, spokesman for RU-Center, the body authorized to register domain names.

But in January, RU-Center dropped the price for “.su” to US$25 (€16) in a bid to boost the domain’s worldwide popularity.

The attractive new price sparked a registration rush that bumped up the number of “.su” sites to 45,000 today, more than quadruple the 11,000 registered as of late 2006. The demand shows no signs of relenting — the jump from 31,000 in January represents a 45 percent rise.

But by domain name standards, the number of “.su” registrations is still very small. Russia’s “.ru,” for instance, has more than 1 million names. Germany’s “.de” has 12 million, and the global “.com” has about 75 million.

Champions of the online Soviet domain say there is still plenty of room for growth.

Some envisage the “.su” domain as a virtual venue for those who fondly recall the old Soviet Union as a place where Russian, the lingua franca of the Soviet empire, knit together a host of Asian and European ethnic groups and cultures.

And by late April, the “.su” domain plans to start allowing names in Russian; currently such names are limited to English letters, numerals and the hyphen.
